Make opinions on schools count

As Mountain State legislators plan for a special session on improving public schools, everyone involved seems to be determined to address one criticism of the “omnibus education bill” that failed earlier this year. It is that lawmakers did not obtain enough input before writing the measure.

No one can say what will happen during the special session. But failure to get the public and the education community involved should not be a factor.

In addition to holding public meetings on the matter, the state Department of Education is asking West Virginians, including students, to take an online survey. It can be found at https://wvde.us/education-public-forum/.

If you are interested in education, and you should be, we encourage you to take the survey. Make your opinion on schools part of the discussion.
