Weirton voters, cast your ballots

It doesn’t matter how many elections are on the ballot. What matters is that our residents take the opportunity to exercise their right, and responsibility, to vote.

Weirton’s municipal primary election will be held Tuesday. The mayor’s race and the elections for all seven members of city council are on the ballot, although the candidates for all but two of them will automatically move on to June’s general election.

That shouldn’t stop the city’s residents from going to their polling places, however. This is an opportunity to express your thoughts on the operations of the city government. It’s a chance to let the current administration know if you agree with how it has handled your community.

Polling locations will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition, Weirton Transit Corp. has announced it will be providing complimentary rides to polling sites from 10 a.m. to noon on all routes, and also along the regular route all day.

We encourage all registered voters in Weirton to take the time to cast their votes and let their voices be heard Tuesday. This is just the primary election, but that makes it no less important.
