Have a peachy time in Weirton

Homemade peach treats, but with some other savory fare thrown in, will be on the menu for Saturday’s 56th-annual St. Thomas Episcopal Church’s Peach Festival.

Tri-State Area residents wanting a favorite taste of summer can enjoy peach shortcakes and more goodies from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Three Spring Drive church in Weirton.

Other fare on the menu includes roast beef, pulled pork and meatball sandwiches, french fries and haluski and a variety of baked goods ready to take home.

Organized each year by the parish, the festival continues to be a big draw for residents from throughout our area, and not just for all things peach. The event will feature several craft vendors, a used book sale, a hot dog stand and other attractions.

And, of course, the festival benefits the community, as proceeds go to the church’s outreach ministries. It’s one of the church’s largest fundraisers of the year and has provided several programs to give back to others in our area.

We thank those from the St. Thomas parish for volunteering their time, and for peeling hundreds and hundreds of peaches, during the last couple of months to put together this taste-tempting event for all area residents. Your efforts are much appreciated.

We encourage folks to head to St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Weirton Saturday to once again enjoy the several-decades-old festival and come together as a community.
