Ride to benefit veterans park

To the Editor,

This is a call for action to all veterans, family and friends of veterans.

The Brooke-Hancock County Veterans Memorial Park Inc. will be holding a motorcycle run on 14 September, 2013, sponsored by ABATE. We were fortunate ABATE called and offered their support and we thank them.

The purpose of the run is for maintenance of the park only. There are no salaries; all maintenance of the park is accomplished with contributions and volunteers.

Registration begins 1200 hours (noon) and the run will begin 1300 hours (1 p.m.) at the VFW Hall, 3435 Main Street, Weirton and will end at the same place 1700 hours (5 p.m.). A dinner will be served afterwards. Individuals will donate the food so not one cent will be spent for anything other than maintenance of the park.

We have fencing that needs repaired, broken bricks that need replaced, bricks that sunk need to be reset, and the military equipment needs spot sanded/primed/painted to keep it in good condition.

We ask for your support. Anyone can ride. Two-, three-, four- wheeled vehicles are welcome. Entry fee is $15 per person and $10 per passenger.

Anyone that is not able to attend but would like to make a contribution may do so by writing a check to BHCVMP, Inc. and mail it to 3435 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.

George Ash Sr.

BHCVMP president
