Support appreciated

To the Editor,

On behalf of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Philoptochos Society I would like to thank our entire Weirton area community for their continuous support of our annual Greek Easter Bake Sale which was held March 29. We baked 750 sweet breads and 777 dozen koulourakia (twist cookies). With the exception of approximately 100 dozen koulourakia we set aside as donations for visitation to shut-ins, those convalescing and the church, we completely sold out.

Due to your generosity we will be able to help more people with our philanthropic work such as donating funds and/or products to Backpacks for Success (providing meals for school children to take home), Brooke Place (a home for teenage girls experiencing trauma located in Brooke County), Community Bread Basket (a cooperative outreach ministry to assure the basic needs of life for people and families in our community) and Weirton Christian Center (a place of learning and activity for children). Also International Orthodox Christian Charities which has provided more than $600 million in worldwide relief and development programs including helping West Virginia flood victims.

We hope you enjoyed your bread and koulourakia. If you would like more, please join us at our 31st Annual Weirton Greek Festival on July 12, 13 and 14, 2018 where we will once again have Sweet Easter Bread and Koulourakia available as well as other Greek pastries, Greek food, fellowship, church tours and entertainment.

Once again, thank you for your continuous support of our bake sale and philanthropic efforts. We pray you have a Blessed Easter!
