Ministers sponsor community dinner on Thanksgiving

The Weirton Ministerial Association is once again hosting its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. This year's dinner will be served at the Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3539 Main St.

Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and will include turkey, ham, dressing, yams, green beans, cranberry sauce, dessert, beverage and more.

In addition to dining at the senior center, meals can be delivered.

Transportation to and from the senior center is also available. Volunteers from various churches, Weirton Madonna High School and several service organizations will be there to serve and share in Thanksgiving fellowship.

The food and services are absolutely free and are for anyone (not just senior citizens) who wishes to participate. The event is intended to help those who would otherwise eat alone, and share in a good meal and some fellowship.

Dance center to host pasta dinner

The Brenda Casey Dance Center has been invited to dance at Walt Disney World on July 17. As one of the fundraisers for the dancers, they are hosting a pasta dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 3598 Pennsylvania Ave. in Weirton.

Cost of the dinner is $7 for adults; $5 for children 4 to 10; and children 3 and under are free.

The dinner will include a 50/50 drawing and a nursery will be available.

Knights sponsor mystery theatre

On Nov. 14 the Weirton Knights of Columbus will sponsor a Dinner and Murder Mystery Theatre.

Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. where you get the opportunity to meet the cast, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the performance from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Dancing with disc jockey Ed Onori from 9 to 11 p.m. will end the evening.

Price is $25 per person that includes admission, a dinner buffet of salad, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls. Dessert will be available during the intermission.

Reservations are a must; call the club at (304) 723-1492 and have your guest table reserved. Deadline for reservations is Nov. 10.

Monthly luncheon at Christ Episcopal

Christ Episcopal Church, located at 1014 Main St. in Wellsburg, will sponsor its monthly luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 12.

Cost is $6 and the menu will feature a roast beef sandwich, potato chips, pumpkin sheet cake and a beverage. Individual sandwiches are available for $4.

Dine in or carry out are available. Deliveries can be made to businesses or shut-ins within the local area.

Rebekahs to participate food event

The Newell Rebekah 74 lodge will be participating in a "Taste of Holiday" sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 460 Main St. in Wellsville, Ohio.

The lodge members will be selling apple dumplings, chocolate and peanut butter fudge, brownies and banana nut cake.

Rada products and dish cloths will also be available.

Wells Class of 1938 honors Hannen

The Wells High School Class of 1938 honored William Hannen at a luncheon at Frank's Restaurant in Steubenville.

A wrist watch was presented to Hannen with his initials and the inscription, "Thank you for all your hard work, Class of '38."

Hannen has kept in contact with classmates by sending letters several times a year, and maintains a roster with addresses and telephone numbers, members names with no addressed and updates the list when members pass.

Those attending the luncheon were Mary Rodish Bardin, Hannen, Michael Krnich, Wilma Noltemeyer Mentzer, Louise Smith Tyson and Betty Swiger Ward. Guest attending were Erdella Hannen, Dorothy Topic and Anna Zodguo.

The next luncheon will be on Thursday at Tudor's Biscuit World in Weirton. This will be the last luncheon until spring. The luncheon is open to all classmates.

Women of Moose sponsor blood drive

The Wellsburg Women of the Moose will sponsor an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The drive will be held at the Moose Lodge located at 844 Main St. in Wellsburg. Morning doughnuts and lunch will be provided to presenting donors.

The blood drive is open to the public and all eligible donors are welcome to attend. Photo identification is required. Walk-ins are accepted or you can make an appointment by calling Linda Porreca at (740) 264-4286 or (304)?737-1552.
