Wilma Dale Morrison Minor

MINOR, Wilma Dale Morrison, 89, of Surgoinsville, TN, went home to be with the Lord and her husband on Oct. 2, 2012, at Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born in New Philadelphia, OH, but spent most of her life and raised her family in Weirton, WV.

She was graduated from the Reynolds Memorial Hospital professional nursing program (Glen Dale, WV) and was a devoted registered nurse for over 52 years. She spent the majority of her professional nursing career at Weirton Steel Company, where she was dedicated to providing for the health and safety needs of the workers and ultimately became Director of Nurses.

She was an expert seamstress and needle crafter and for all of her adult life was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. After moving to Tennessee, she attended Rogersville First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Archie Minor; her parents, Earl D. and Lora Morrison; and four sisters, Martha Virtue, Virginia Kent, Geraldine Corbett, and Norma Heck.

Mrs. Minor is survived by her children and their spouses: Philiip and Sue Gibbs Minor (Weirton, WV), Millard and Valerie Evans Minor (Philippi, WV), Kitty Minor Chappell and husband, Bill (Surgoinsville, TN) as well as five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Morrison Barach (Swanton, MD) and brother-in-law, Rufus Heck (Fairmont, WV) and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Nov. 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Philippi Presbyterian Church (Philippi, WV) with the Rev. Dr. Danny Franke of the Philippi Presbyterian Church and Rev. Kevin Bowers of the First Christian Church of Weirton, WV officiating.

Mrs. Minor will be interred with her husband at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV
