APESOS, Nick P., 68, of Weirton, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, OH.
Born on July 24, 1944, in Weirton, WV, Nick was a son of the late Tony and Theodora Sfikas Apesos. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Mackey, and a brother, Tom Apesos.
A Vietnam veteran, Nick was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Weirton Steel after 38 years in the blast furnace, where he worked as a blower and tended the stoves.
He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. He was also active in the former Weirton Jaycee's.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Derby Apesos, whom he married on March 21, 1997; two daughters, Nikki A. Cline and her fiance, John Williston, of Weirton and Terri Lancaster and her husband, David, of Colliers, WV; a sister, Mary Apesos, of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Taylor and Jillian Cline, Brian Lancaster, and Jennifer Wattenschaidt; and a great granddaughter, Stacy Wattenschaidt.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, WV.
Additional visitation will be Wednesday 10 until time of services at 11 a.m. at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Weirton, WV.
Rev. Fr. Frank Milanese will preside.
Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton
