BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. - The Burgettstown Community Library, located at 2 Kerr St., will be holding several holiday-themed events.
Area children and their families are invited to craft holiday tree ornaments from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at the library. The ornaments will be used to decorate the library's tree at the annual "Light Up Night" at the borough's Main Street Park Dec. 1.
The library will hold its holiday open house and memorial service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 11. There will be music, refreshments and activities highlighting the Memorial Angel Tree. For each donation of $5, a white clay angel ornament will have the name and dates of a loved one written on it. The ornaments will decorate the library's holiday tree and are available at the circulation desk prior to the open house. The top readers from the children's summer reading program will be recognized.
The library’s 2012 holiday drawing fundraiser tickets are available for $10 at the library and from library board members. Prizes also include an illuminated dollhouse, Fiesta Ware basket, basket of cheer and Pittsburgh Steelers basket.
A drawing is being held for a Kindle and Lightto. Tickets are available at the circulation desk for $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be held Dec. 11.

Winning numbers are based on the Pennsylvania Lottery evening drawing Dec. 3-7. A prize, valued at more than $500, will be awarded each day. Prizes include a 20-inch high dollhouse with interior lights, a Fiesta Ware basket and a basket of cheer and snacks. The Major League Baseball basket includes a signed Roger Clemens Sweet Spot baseball card; a Lou Pinella-signed baseball; autographed copy of "Pirate for Life" by Steve Blass; Walker and McCutcheon shirts; MLB vest; and Pittsburgh Pirates items. The Pittsburgh Steelers football basket includes two tickets to the Steelers-Cincinnati Bengals game Dec. 23, including a parking pass; a signed Bret Keisel cap and shirt; and Steelers items.
Adult Tai Chi classes are held at 11 a.m. Thursdays at the library. The cost is a $10 donation per session.
Patrons now have the ability to download free eBooks and audio books from the library's website at www.burglibrary.org, through the district's "Off the Shelf" initiative.
The library will be closed Nov. 22-23 for Thanksgiving and Dec. 24-25 for Christmas.
The library benefits from deposits at the ABITIBI recycling containers, which are located at the library and the Barbush Community Center's baseball field entrance in Langeloth.
