The Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra will be performing at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church located at 3252 Main St., Weirton.
There is no charge for the public to attend the orchestra's only local performance. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the orchestra has performed at the church.
The orchestra was founded by Alan Epstein in 2002 and gave its first public performance on April 11, 2003, which included 15 musicians. Pittsburgh now has the largest mandolin orchestra in the United States and is comprised of more than 40 active musicians of all ages and backgrounds. Their music director, Charley Rappaport, is a world master folk musician.
A reception will be held following the performance.
