Cantata Sunday

at Hopewell

The Hopewell United Methodist Church, located on Jefferson County Road 16, Rayland, will present the South Bellaire United Methodist Choir singing "Let There Be Light," a Christmas cantata, on Sunday beginning at 6 p.m.

Following the cantata, there will be a time of fellowship with refreshments.

It is open to the public.

Kum Joyne Us

holds party

The Kum Joyne Us Class of Kolmont Church held its annual Christmas party Dec. 7 in the fellowship hall. There were 38 adults and two children present.

The theme was "Jesus Is The Gift." Maureen Black, chairperson, gave the welcome, and read a poem entitled "Christmas Giving" and offered the blessing for the dinner catered by Michelle and Dave Trikonas.

Ruby Grimes read a poem entitled "The Stableboy's Story."

Participating in a skit entitled "Change Is Good" were Shirley McCartney, Nancy Tucker, Marie Little, Sharlene Wade, Sara Peeler, Angel Nixon, Lyda Grimes, Ashley Worwa, Lora Grimes, Crissie Moran, Lorna Flesher and Tanya Flesher.

Some of those attending shared stories of their favorite gift.

Black presented Sunday school teachers with a gift from the class. A gift exchange was held. McCartney closed the evening with a prayer.

McCartney and Tucker will be the hostesses at the Jan. 4 meeting in the fellowship hall, beginning at 7 p.m.

Free spaghetti

As part of the First Baptist Church of Steubenville's efforts for community outreach, it will host a free spaghetti dinner from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 6 at the church.

It is open to anyone.

The church is located at 334 Cedar Ave., Steubenville, and plans to have free monthly dinners the first Sunday of every month at 1 p.m.

Men of Destiny

to meet Jan. 12

Men of Destiny of the House of Faith located at 1913 Estelle Ave., Steubenville, will meet there at 9 a.m. Jan. 12.

The nondenominational group is open to all men.

"Come and see how we can better our relationship with Christ, witness to others, help our neighbors, improve our community and build bonds of friendship with men inside and outside of our church with Christian fellowship," said Ron Boyuk, president. Knights to host New Year's event

The Weirton Knights of Columbus will host a New Year's Eve party, beginning at 7 p.m. Monday.

The event will include a variety of hot and cold hor d'oeuvres as well as pork, kielbasa and sauerkraut.

Disc jockey Mark Kaczmarek will provide entertainment throughout the evening. A cash bar will be available, and dress is casual. Admission is $25 per person.
