RIFFLE, Theodore E. "Ted", Sr., age 82, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Acuity Specialty Hospital, Steubenville, Ohio

He was born February 25, 1930, in Toronto, Ohio the son of the late Ezra and Grace Kilmer Riffle.

Ted was a member of the Hill Top Presbyterian Church; was a founding member and former fire chief of the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department; Toronto American Legion Post 86; the Toronto Sunrise Senior Citizens and had served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded by his parents; daughter Vicki Riffle; grandfather George B. Kilmer; sister Kate Riffle; brothers Monty, John and Dan Riffle.

Ted is survived by his wife Edna E. (Bash) Riffle of the family home whom he married September 27, 1955; daughters Daya Swaykus (Bill Pethtel) of East Liverpool, Ohio and Lori Mills of Columbus, Ohio; son Theodore E. "Ted" Riffle, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; sister Joy Cecil of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren Cory Gooch of Toronto, Ohio, Danielle McElroy of Tallmadge, Ohio, Daya N. Swaykus of Garrettsville, Ohio, Michael Swaykus of Toronto, Ohio, Matt Riffle of Columbus, Ohio, Jason Adams of Columbus, Ohio, Duke Marschalk of Georgia and Tabitha Marschalk of Michigan; great-grandchildren Blake Mc Elroy of Tallmadge, Ohio, Miley Quarles of Columbus, Ohio, Ella Quarles and Tayden Quarles of Georgia; cousins Shirley and David Amos.

Visitation hours for Ted will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday, February 11, at the Clarke Funeral Home 302 Main St. Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 855-847-1240.

There will be Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department services 7 p.m. Monday.

A celebration service of Ted's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, at the funeral home with the Reverend C. Robert Meyer officiating.

There will be full military service honors at the funeral home before the service Tuesday.
