April 23, 2013
Weirton Daily Times

BETHANY - The Bethany Woman's Club, a General Federation of Women's Clubs of West Virginia member club, met April 15 at Bethany Memorial Church, with President Helen Moren presiding.

In observance of Federation Week, a coffee hour was held Sunday at Bethany Church. Pinwheels have been displayed at the church and Bethany Post Office in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month. The pinwheel is a reminder of childhood and the bright futures all children deserve, Moren said.

Charlotte Chambers led devotions, and Secretary Beverly Chambers gave her report. Moren reported on the state convention, where the club received several awards.

Carolyn Walsh was welcomed as a new member.

Members will collect items for Camp Ko Koma and healthy snacks for Boatsie's Boxes.

Several are running for Bethany council seats and the club will sponsor a Meet the Candidate Night. Purple ribbons will be displayed in the community to promote the Brooke-Hancock American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

A donation was made to Jimmy Willis, who will attend a national youth program in Washington, D.C. The group also will also send a representative to Girl's State.

Moren will attend the Northern District Spring Workshop April 27 in New Cumberland and conduct a workshop on registration and credentials.
