WEIRTON - The Woman's Club of New Cumberland, a General Federation of Women's Clubs of West Virginia member organization, held an end-of-year banquet May 7 at Gio's, with President Dorothy Hawkes presiding.
Members read the inspiration, "Kindness," by Carolyn Majors. Secretary Patty Fisher read the correspondence, and Treasurer Alice Mitchell gave the financial report.
Members discussed participating in the Hancock County Arts Council house tour by hosting a reception.
Patty Fisher, Terri Fisher and Lisa Maloney were hostesses. The table was decorated with painted tin planters, containing gladiolus bulbs, which were favors; and assorted Gerbera daisies, which were given as door prizes.
The club will observe West Virginia Day and the state sesquicentennial June 20 by planting a rhododendron at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland.
The summer conference will be held Aug. 2-3 in Flatwoods. The next club meeting will be held Sept. 3 at the Swaney Memorial Library; anyone interested in joining is invited to attend.
The Northern District style show will be held Sept. 29 at Weirton Undo's. The Northern District convention will be held Oct. 12. More details will be released as they become available.
