Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, located at 3149 Main Street in Weirton, features many photos, exhibits and events featuring the area's vast and rich history.
WAMCC is a member of the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce and the chamber is a life member of the museum. The museum and chamber support each other and work together on events throughout the year to help make the community a great place to visit and live.
The next museum event will held be on West Virginia's 150th birthday, which falls on June 20. There will be hands-on activities for children, a West Virginia birthday cake, along with cookies and beverages. There will also be a photo booth for making some fun photos and time for exploration of museum displays. Also, museum President Dennis Jones will provide an update on the current building renovations and those planned for the future.
This summer, the museum invite resident to play a fun community game, called "Rediscover Holliday's Cove," which is designed to bring people out into area businesses and educate the public about Holliday's Cove and our Aug. 10 event.
Before that the museum is holding an "Afternoon Tea with Rosie the Riveter" July 27. Visit the website at www.weirtonmuseum.com for newsletters and more details on events.
