WEIRTON - A town hall meeting scheduled for today to discuss issues surrounding a statewide business tax has been canceled, according to the Weirton businessman organizing the event.
Nick Fuscardo, owner of Fuscardo's Barbershop, had scheduled the meeting to take place tonight at the Victorian Hall. Over the last several months, Fuscardo has been circulating a petition in the hope of having a tax he says charges businesses on the tools of their trade eliminated.
"I'm having a sign made up and posted (at the Victorian Hall)," he said when contacted this afternoon.
Fuscardo explained state Sen. Jack Yost, D-Wellsburg, had been scheduled to be at the meeting, but said today he could not attend because of a personal commitment.
Fuscardo said he didn't feel there would be any point to holding the meeting without any elected officials in attendance.
"It would just be me speaking to the choir," he said.
