WEIRTON - Weirton Police have issued warrants for the arrest of a man believed to have robbed the Donut Connection, 1325 Pennsylvania Ave., at gunpoint Saturday.

Lt. Gregg Moodie said the suspect, identified as James Raymond "Jimmy" Carr, was armed with a silver revolver when he allegedly robbed a clerk at around 11:09 p.m. and then fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

The warrants charge Carr, 42, with armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. No address is available for Carr.

Witnesses outside the doughnut shop told police they saw a man leaving the establishment jump into a "silver or grey" Neon.

"We checked with the owner of the car. They said (Carr) had borrowed the vehicle on a pretext of going to Wal-Mart to pick up his brother," he said. "The car was subsequently reported stolen through Follansbee police."

Authorities believe Carr may be in New Jersey and are searching for him as well as the missing car.

"The last information we had was he was in the state of New Jersey," Moodie said. "We don't know if he took the car with him or not, but we've been in touch with the New Jersey authorities and warrants for his arrest have been issued."
