Oak Glen High School soccer

teams 'Kick Away Hunger'

NEW MANCHESTER - Oak Glen High School boys and girls soccer teams will hold the "Oak Glen Soccer Kicks Away Hunger" food drive at their double-header today.

The boys will play East Liverpool at 5 p.m., and the girls will play at 7 p.m. against Madonna. Those who bring canned goods or nonperishables will receive $1 off admission. The teams also will collect food at school.

Service district to meet Wednesday

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Service District will hold a monthly general business meeting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the district office located at 711 Charles St.

Church holding soup and salad lunch

WEIRTON - St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will hold a soup and salad lunch and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church located at 604 Colliers Way, across from the Weirton Medical Center.

The meal includes a stuffed pepper or wedding soup, hoagie and dessert. The cost is $5. For take-out orders, call (304) 723-9746.

Crutchfield to speak at dinner

WEIRTON - Jim Crutchfield, West Liberty University men's basketball coach, will be the guest speaker at the Friends of Madonna annual steak fry dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Crutchfield, who leads all NCAA coaches in winning percentage, will speak about the basketball team's recent success.

Tickets are $30. The event will have a cash bar. All proceeds benefit the Madonna High School boys basketball team.

Country Friends to host Eldurays

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host The Eldurays Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance begins at 7 p.m.

Country Friends holds covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the dinner begins at 5 p.m. and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Tri-State chorus begins rehearsals

WHEELING - The Tri-State Community Chorus will begin its inaugural season this fall.

The first rehearsal is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Wheeling Central Catholic High School located at 75 14th St. Rehearsals will be held every Monday.

The group is open to anyone high school-aged and older. No audition is required; prior music experience is preferred, but not necessary.

Auxiliary hosts craft fair

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. - The Hookstown American Legion Post 952 Ladies Auxiliary will host its annual fall craft show and sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at the post, located on state Route 168, near the Hookstown fairgrounds.

The auxiliary kitchen will be open.
