From staff reports , Weirton Daily Times

WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Water Board has announced a planned water outage to take place in portions of the city's downtown on Sunday.

According to information provided by the board, water service will be off between noon at 8 p.m. in an area beginning at the 3300 blocks of Zeta Street, Orchard Street, West Street and Main Street and ending at Virginia Avenue.

The outage is taking place so work crews can replace four broken valves in the city's water system.

Residents and businesses in the affected area are advised they may experience discolored water throughout Sunday and early Monday morning.

Customers are advised to refrain from washing laundry during this time to prevent rust from creating stains.

Once water service is restored, the affected areas will be under a boil order, which will remain in effect until further notice.
