Oak Glen sweeps tri-match

WELLSBURG - The Oak Glen volleyball team swept a tri-match Wednesday, defeating Weir High 25-13, 25-8 and host Brooke 25-16, 25-7. The Bruins beat the Red Riders 25-8, 25-22.

For the Golden Bears, Morgan Poling delivered three points, 12 kills, four blocks and seven digs; Madison Juszczak contributed 18 points, six kills and 15 digs; and Jessica Stivason seven points, two aces, 10 kills, five blocks and 12 digs.

Vanessa Hissam added 14 points, five aces, nine kills, three blocks and 12 digs; Alex Arnott six kills, Carissa Williams six points, 29 sets, 14 assists and three digs; Emmy Delekta one assist, Kenzie Rosenlieb 18 points, 31 sets, 17 assists; and 10 digs and Kami Koper five digs.

For the Bruins, Emily Stuck deliverd 15 assists and two aces; Alexa Gerrard four assists, three kills and three blocks; and Angela Staffileno 16 blocks, 12 kills, six digs and four aces.

Kourtney Leonard added three digs, two kills and two aces; Isabella Preston three kills; Courtney Elliott six digs; and Abby Adams four kills and five blocks.

Big Red tops Panthers

STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red volleyball team stopped Buckeye Local 25-14, 25-13, 25-15 Wednesday inside the Crimson Center on senior night.

For the five seniors in the lineup, Amanda Roscoe totaled two kills; Abby Taylor 18 points, seven kills and 14 assists; Mytia Barker five points, nine kills and seven digs; Brittany Bodo two points, three kills and two assists; and Carmie Biasi 13 points and eight digs.

Taylor Young added 12 points, seven kills and eight assists; Annie Nehrbas six kills and four blocks; and Lysiah Rice three kills.

Big Red (12-6) visits Weir High today.

Crusaders sweep Devils

BEALLSVILLE - The Catholic Central volleyball team swept host Beallsville 25-16, 25-10, 25-10 on Wednesday.

Robyn Runkel led the way with 10 points and 16 assists. Kamy Belardine totaled 10 points and eight digs and Madeline Gulan added seven points and five kills.

Monica Fischer contributed 20 points, five kills and five digs, and Monica Rigaud had a big night with 15 points, 11 kills and three blocks. Megan Lloyd had five points and 10 assists, Fran Capaldi two points, Ashlynne Daley six kills and Logan Colabella three kills.

Central visits Toronto today.

Central blanks Monarchs

GLEN?DALE?- The Steubenville Catholic Central girls soccer team defeated host John Marshall, 3-0, Wednesday.

Ana McNamara netted the first two goals of the second half for the Crusaders off assists from Micca Mirabella.

Katie Irvin finished the scoring by burying a penalty kick with about seven minutes left.

Moriah Vosteen totaled five saves. Alexa Richards had 11 saves for the Monarchs.

The Crusaders take on Weirton Madonna at 5 p.m. today at the J.C.?Williams Complex.

Edison downs Huskies

RICHMOND - The Edison volleyball team defeated visiting Harrison?Central 25-12, 25-16, 21-25, 25-14 Wednesday.

For the Wildcats (14-5), Alexis Gill had seven points, two aces, five kills and two blocks; Cassady Jones eight points; 18 kills and three aces; and Maddie Williamson six points, two aces and two digs.

Kayleigh Westbrook added four digs; Katelyn Pollock 10 points, 10 kills, eight aces and three digs; Caitlin Brenstuhl 37 assists, seven kills, five points and three digs; Jackie Wiedaman seven points; Kalee Neal five points and three digs; Sarah Ross one point and one ace; Mackenzie Berardinelli eight points and three aces; Tera Anderson four digs; Skylar Fankhouser two digs; and Kim Wilson one block.

The Wildcats host Big Red on Tuesday.
