FREE ASSISTANCE: Franciscan University of Steubenville accounting students are continuing more than a quarter-century long tradition of assisting Ohio Valley residents with their income tax forms.

From Tuesday through April 12, students will offer free e-filing assistance to local tax filers at a help site located between Quiznos and the Payless ShoeSource store in the Fort Steuben Mall. The students have completed an income tax course and passed an IRS training course through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Students will prepare forms 1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 schedules A, B, and D, and forms for calculating education, dependent care and earned-income credits. The free assistance is available to taxpayers with an income up to $52,000.

The tax assistance site will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays; 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays; 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to noon and 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays; 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays; and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

The site will be closed from March 8-16 due to spring break.


Dr. Michael P. Giannamore has been named medical director of Ohio Valley Optimal Healthcare, the area's first integrated physical medicine practice.

Giannamore is a general practice, family physician who has served in private practice since 1978. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, Giannamore graduated from Ohio University and earned his doctor of medicine degree from Rutgers University. He completed his residency at Hackensack Hospital in New Jersey. Giannamore has served on a number of hospital committees and organizations and acted as preceptor for nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical students. A Steubenville resident, he is a member of the Trinity Professional Group and serves on the Steubenville City Board of Education.

Giannamore joins Dr. Matthew Nardone and Charlotte Jones, a certified family nurse practitioner.

Ohio Valley Optimal Healthcare, located at 117B Three Springs Drive in Weirton, offers medical services, diagnostic testing, physical therapy and chiropractic and specializes in neck, back, hip, shoulder and knee pain; headaches, peripheral neuopathy; and medically supervised weight loss.
