ST. CLAIRSVILLE - MPR Transloading and Energy Services is hosting the Ohio Valley Oil and Gas Expo Thursday at the Belmont County Carnes Center.
Approximately 150 exhibitors and more than 30 sponsors are seeking to help connect the valley's gas and oil players through an educational forum featuring some of the heads of the industry as speakers.
Speakers will include Toby Rice of Rice Energy; Craig Butler of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency; Craig Hasper of Hull and Associates; Tom Mendenhall of Mack Trucks; Bob Beatty of "O" Ring; and Cara Dingus Brook of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio. Tejas Gosai of the Shale Media Group will moderate.
Rick Frio, president and CEO of MPR, said the event was organized for citizens as well as for industry members.
"We want to show how this boom can create value for everyone. We are pretty excited about that," he said. "It will be great to have Toby Rice of Rice Energy and Craig Butler of the EPA at the same time. It should make for a dynamic presentation with different perspectives represented."
Frio said there will be a truck on display to help answer questions about transportation issues and how alternative fuels work.
"We've been in this since the beginning, and it's been a long wait for some of us. But now it's time. It's here. It's like when you're at a baseball game and the national anthem finishes playing. It's very exciting, and the local impact will be huge," Frio said.
