Bruce Edward Oiler, 66, of Wintersville, OH, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Bruce was born January 13, 1948, in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Therman and Goldie (Koher) Oiler.
Bruce served proudly as a corporal in the United States Marie Corps during the Vietnam War, receiving National Defense Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnamese Campaign Medal,Vietnamese Service Medal with 2 Stars, Navy Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, and Navy Unit Citation.
He worked at Crown Cork and Seal, Weirton, WV. Bruce loved to ride his motorcycle.
Bruce is survived his loving his wife of 47 years, Pauline (Kassells) Oiler of Wintersville, OH; four children, Gladys (Greg) Polverini of Follansbee, WV, Paul (Tracy) Oiler of Wintersville, OH, Kenny Oiler of Wintersville, OH, Sara (Brian) Wyatt of Wintersville, OH; grandchildren, Billy, Josh, GG, PJ Mariah, Alexis, Anna, Isaac, Ivan, Bruce, Therman, Clarissia, and PJ; and two stepgrandchildren Wakita and Christina; a step-great-granddaughter; three brothers, Roger Oiler of Paris, PA, Brian (Darlene) Oiler of Mingo Junction, OH, and Carl (Pam) Oiler; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 14, 2014, from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m. at James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717, with Reverend Ed Rudiger of Cove Presbyterian Church, Weirton, WV, officiating, concluding with military honors by the United States Marine Corps, Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad and the Patriot Guard.
Following the service Bruce will be cremated and interred at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
