A.J. Connor receives scholarship

STEUBENVILLE — Catholic Central senior A.J. Connor is a recipient of the Charlie Watt Memorial Scholarship from the District V Basketball Coaches Association for the 2017-18 basketball season.

The scholarship is a based on outstanding work ethic and commitment to athletics and academics during a student’s high school career.

Along with that, Connor was named MVP during the district all-star game. He was awarded the Richard Potts OVAC basketball scholarship at the OVAC game. He also was one of 11 players in Ohio to be named to the District IV all-Ohio academic team.

During his basketball career, the four-year letterwinner was a member of the first-team all-OVAC, second-team all-Eastern District and Division IV all-Ohio honorable mention.

Connor plans to attend Duquesne University where he plans to obtain a five-year dual bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering and nursing. He is the son of Jamie and Lori Connor of Wintersville.
