Oak Glen squeaks by Toronto

TORONTO — Basketball games are four quarters long, and the Oak Glen girls basketball team is thankful for that fact.

Toronto outscored Oak Glen in each of the first three quarters, but the Golden Bears outscored the Red Knights by 14 points in the fourth to rally for a 62-60 victory Friday night on the road.

Oak Glen trailed 48-38 in the fourth before rallying for the victory.

Maggie Kovalcik and Alexa Andrews each collected a game-high 21 points to lead the way for Oak Glen.

Jo’Zaeyah Jordan and Jensyn Jackson each netted 15 points to lead the way for Toronto.

The Red Knights used a pair of runs in the first half to build a 21-16 lead.

Oak Glen netted the first eight points of the game, but Toronto tallied the next nine points to take a 9-8 lead at the end of the first.

The Golden Bears scored the first four points of the second, but the Red Knights responded with a 12-2 run as Toronto took a 21-16 lead at halftime.
