WEIRTON — In its first action since the OVAC Tournament — where Steubenville advanced wrestlers five to the finals and saw two win titles — the Big Red wrestling team traveled across the river to take on rival Weir on Wednesday. Steubenville came away with a 48-28 final over the Red Riders to remain perfect in dual meets on the season.

Anthony Shevlin (106) got things rolling for Big Red early, taking the first match of the evening by a pin. Ethan Pappas (160) and David Tuttle (182), both OVAC finalists, also won by pins. Peyton Blasko — a 2019 OVAC champion — won by forfeit, as did Tyler Muldrew (132), Jacson Muldrew (138), Keifer Bodnar (195), Peyton Tuttle (220) and heavyweight Manny Ware.

For the Red Riders, who were celebrating senior night at the Carl Hamill Fieldhouse, Cameron Johnson (120) won by major decision and C.J. Helms earned a decision at 145. Wyatt Conley (126) and Garet Hostustler (152) both won by pins. Reese Willis earned an overtime win at 170.

The Red Riders return to action Saturday at the Bob Zide Rumble at Williamstown.

Big Red also returns to the mat on Saturday when Steubenville hosts a tri-meet with OVAC overall champion Beaver Local and Upper Arlington.
