Toronto boys set school record, defeat Southern

TORONTO — The Toronto boys basketball team won its 20th game with a 61-51 victory over Southern Local on Friday.

The 20 wins set an all-time school record previously held by the 1992 squad. Friday also marked the Red Knights’ 25th-consecutive win in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference before leaving next year.

Nate Karaffa led Toronto (20-2) with a game-high 18 points. Trillion West contributed 11 points, while Lucas Gulczynski added eight. Overall, the Red Knights made 22 of 30 free throws.

No. 2 seed Toronto is back in action Tuesday, hosting No. 12 seed Frontier in a Div. IV sectional semifinal.
