Weir High gets revenge on McKay, Oak Glen
NEW MANCHESTER — The Weir High softball team got to Oak Glen freshman pitcher Maddie McKay and won, 11-5, on Wednesday.
The Red Riders (8-9) were led by Taylor Webster. She collected a single, double and three RBIs. Bella Aperfine also singled and doubled, while driving in a pair. Mallory Rosnick doubled and drove home a pair. Sophia Mikula added a single, double and one RBI. Samantha Kaczmarek started and picked up the victory, walking two and striking out one in six innings. Liv Rosnick pitched the final inning.
For the Golden Bears, McKay took the loss. She walked three and struck out eight in five innings. She no-hit the Red Riders earlier in the season. Janaya pitched the final two frames. Offensively, Hanna Patterson singled twice and hit a solo home run. Grace Smith recorded two singles and two RBIs. McKay had three singles and drove home one. Lexi Andrews added a single and an RBI.

WINTERSVILLE — The Indian Creek softball team defeated Buckeye Local, 10-0, in six innings on Wednesday.
Kaydee Kinsey picked up the complete-game victory for the Redskins, walking one and striking out a pair. At the plate, she had a single, double and an RBI. Megan Kelley tallied three singles and drove home a run. Ally Bevilacqua singled twice and had an RBI. Carley Jo Penner singled twice, while Haylie Scott had a single and two RBIs.
For Buckeye Local, Jordyn Spencer recorded two singles.

BOARDMAN — The Edison softball team fell, 12-2, in five innings to Youngstown Cardinal Mooney on Wednesday at the Boardman Field of Dreams.
Hannah Christoff and Kiley Babel each singled and drove home a run for the Wildcats (5-6). Mikayla Petrisko and Shannon Bahen each collected a single.
Edison will be in the Ashland Invitational for a single game Friday and a doubleheader Saturday.
