Thomas McConnell, 10-year-old son of Cortney and Justin McConnell of Burgettstown, competed in the 25th Ohio Valley Martial Arts Championship in Brilliant, placing first in kata, weapons, one-point sparring and five-point sparring. He trains in the Chuck Norris System of martial arts at Rine Karate Studio in Weirton and is with instructor Rick Rine.
