Post 33 splits at Hillbilly tourney

BRIDGEPORT — Post 33 split a pair of games on Friday in the Hillbilly tournament. .

Jefferson County defeated Bridgeport Post 68, 9-8, at Bridgeport, and fell, 7-6, to Pemberville Post 183 to go to 12-3 on the season.

Tristan Haight got the win against Bridgeport, pitching 5 2/3 innings while fanning three and walking one. He was relieved by Ryan Neely.

Luke Zorne led the Post 33 offense with two hits and two RBIs.

Andrew Kinney drove in a run, as did George Ash, Neely and Klay Cottis.

Alec McBane had a double and a single, while Ash also doubled.

Post 33 plated five runs in the top of the seventh after scoring two runs in each the first and third innings.

Against Pemberville, Ash startred and struck out two in four innings pitched.

Pemberville won with a walk-off run with one out in the bottom of the fifth. The game was five innings due to a two-hour time limit.

Offensively for Post 33, Josh Maurer had two singles and Kinney had a single, double and three RBIs.

McBane also plated a pair of runs with a single.

On Thursday, Jefferson County opened the tournament in walk-off fashion.

Noah Fayak drove in Luke Zorne in the bottom of the sixth with a RBI fielder’s choice to short.

The game was ended after six innings due to the two-hour time limit.

Zorne had to singles and an RBI as well. Caden Buxton and Evan Lewis each drove in runs also.

On the mound, Matt Bell went the distance to get the win, striking out seven and walking four in his six innings of work.

Jefferson County plays two games today. First, it plays Parkersburg Post 15 at 11:30 a.m., then Brushy Run Post 260 at 4:30 p.m.
