Oak Glen’s Chaney selected to OVAC All-Star contest

Jackson Chaney

WHEELING — It’s go-time for the West Virginia all-stars.

Coach Mike Eddy, formerly of Parkersburg South, completed his roster for the game, which will be played Saturday at Wheeling Island Stadium with the announcement of linebackers, defensive backs and his kicker.

Eddy and the Mountaineers will report to Bethany College at noon today to open training camp.

The defensive group includes Jackson Chaney (Oak Glen), Bastian Geher (Linsly), Jules Giovengo (Linsly), Brayden Mooney (South), Jermain Snodgrass (Wheeling Park), Sebastian Stickler (Magnolia) and Jonah Phares (University).

On top of these players, linemen Gavin Lockhart of John Marshall and Valley’s George Brown have been added to the roster.

“We feel good about our linebackers, but it’ll be interesting to see where those guys play,” Eddy said. “The defensive back group is important, but it’s the group we know the least about. We feel good about our kicker. He has a good, strong, accurate leg.”
