Post 33 wins to open tourney
COSHOCTON — The Jefferson County Post 33 American Legion baseball team opened its run in the Ohio Region 7 tournament in victorious fashion on Friday.
Post 33, the No. 2 seed, knocked off the host No. 3 seed Coshocton Post 65 Cherokees, 5-3.
Clayton Criss doubled and had an RBI. Klay Cottis doubled, while Noah Fayak, Luke Zorne, and Alec McBane each recorded a single and an RBI. George Ash also had a hit.
Matt Bell got the start on the mound and earned the win, going 6 1/3 innings. He gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits. He struck out four and walked two.
Ryan Neely recorded the final two outs to earn the save.
Jefferson County will play the winner of No. 4 seed Conneaut and No. 1 seed Brilliant, who play at 1 p.m., at 7 p.m. today.
