Madonna girls beat Crusaders

WEIRTON — The Madonna girls soccer team shut down Catholic Central, 3-0, on Wednesday.

All three Blue Don goals came from Kali Krynicki, who has seven in the past two contests. Recording an assist were Juliana Velegol, Kelsey Crawford and Gabriella Green.

Madonna (5-3) finished with 18 shots on goal, compared to Catholic Central’s six. Madonna’s Abby Macek had five saves in goal, while Bri DeChristopher had 10 for the Crusaders.

Madonna faces Steubenville at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Tyler Consolidated 1

SISTERSVILLE — The Weir High boys soccer team defeated Tyler Consolidated, 9-1, on Wednesday.

Braiden Niven recorded a hat trick for the Red Riders (6-0-1). Dante Bruno and Joe Iafrate had two goals apiece. Jacob Morgan and Skylar Jackson each added one goal. Mason Cassels and Ryan Dunmyer each tallied two assists, while Bruno, Jackson and Brayden Lawton all had one. Jonathan Howard made three saves in goal, and John Wansack had five.

Weir High hosts Steubenville at noon on Saturday.
