Edison girls fall in two OTs in sectional final

CAMBRIDGE — The Edison girls soccer team’s season ended in heart-breaking fashion on Wednesday with a 3-2 loss to Cambridge in double overtime in a Division III sectional title game.

Laine Murphey scored to tie the game at 1-1 in the first half with an assist from Bailey McAfoose. The Wildcats, who end the season 4-11-2, took the lead on a goal by Holly Valentine in the second half, assisted by Libby McAfoose. Cambridge answered to force overtime, then scored to take the win in the second extra period to advance.

Edison goalkeeper Emma Scott made nine saves.

In Division IV, Catholic Central fell to No. 2 seed Bishop Rosecrans, 6-0.
