Big Red grad Zach Collaros leads Winnipeg to semifinal win

CALGARY, Alberta — Zach Collaros, a Steubenville Big Red graduate, completed 11 of 21 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown to help the Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the Calgary Stampeders 35-14 on Sunday in the Canadian Football League’s West semifinal.

The Blue Bombers will travel to Regina to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders this Sunday in the West final.

Nic Demski, Darvin Adams and Chris Streveler scored touchdowns and Justin Medlock kicked four field goals for Winnipeg.

Calgary won the Grey Cup last season.

In Sunday’s East Division semifinal, Trevor Harris threw for 421 yards and a touchdown and the Edmonton Eskimos held off the Montreal Alouettes, 37-29.

Edmonton advanced to play at Hamilton next Sunday. The Tiger-Cats were a CFL-best 15-3. Appearing in his second game since Sept. 7, Harris completed his first 22 passes — one short of the CFL record held by Hamilton’s Jeremiah Masoli. Harris finished 36 of 39 with an interception.
