Edison girls pull away from Southern Local

RICHMOND — The Edison girls basketball team picked up a win on Saturday afternoon, 52-30, over Southern Local.

The Wildcats were led by Alysea Fiedorczyk with a game-high 21 points. Savanna Ankrom had 14 points, and senior Mikayla Petrisko had five points.

Southern was led by eight points from Taylor Cunningham.

BOWERSTON — The Madonna boys basketball team picked up its second win in as many nights on Saturday, pulling away from Connotton Valley for a 80-47 win.

Lucky Pulice led the way for the Blue Dons, now 2-0, with 28 points and six rebounds. Brennan Secrist had q7 points and eight boards, while Evan Bone also reached double figures with 10 points.

The Blue Dons also won the jayvee game, 19-17 in two quarters. Peyton Moore led the way with eight points.

Edison 60

RICHMOND — The Edison boys basketball team fell at home to Southern Local on Saturdy, 73-60.

Southern pulled away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Wildcats, 25-11.

Alec McBane led Edison with 29 points.

Big Red 70, Cambridge 60

CAMBRIDGE–Three players reached double figures Friday as Big Red improved to 3-0 with a 70-60 victory at Cambridge.

Chase Zimmerman led Mike Haney’s club with a game-high 18 points. Trillyun Jones contributed 16 and Zion Sawyer 12. Quinn McCoy added 8. Zimmerman and Jones both connected twice from behind the arc.

Big Red trailed 16-15 after one but used a big second quarter to claim a 35-29 halftime lead. The visitors then scored 23 in the fourth period to put the win on ice.

Sean Perkins had 15 to pace the Bobcats. Cody Moore scored 12, Caleb Bond 11 and Dominic Cork 10.

Big Red will play its first home game of the season Tuesday when Minerva visits The Crimson Center.
