Taylor’s 30 point night leads Oak Glen past Brooke, 63-48

NEW MANCHESTER — Zach Taylor led the way for the Oak Glen boys basketball team on Friday night, dropping 30 points in a 63-48 win over Brooke at home.

Taylor connected for four 3-pointers and was 6 of 6 from the foul line.

Also reaching double figures for the Golden Bears, now 2-1, was Jacob Clark with 10. Gage Patterson and Brayden Mineard each recorded seven points.

For the Bruins (0-2), Cole Sperlazza led the way with 16 points, while Alex Isinigham followed with 13 points.

Oak Glen opened up a 16-13 lead in the first quarter, and extended the advantage to 31-25 at halftime. After the Bruins cut the deficit to five at the start of the fourth quarter, the Golden Bears out-scored Brooke 19-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away and secure the victory.

The Golden Bears are off until Dec. 21 when they participate in the Buckeye 8 Challenge at Ohio University Eastern.

Madonna 80, Valley 44

WEIRTON — The Madonna boys basketball team pulled away from Valley with a big fourth quarter on Friday for a 80-44 victory.

The Blue Dons started the fourth quarter on a 21-0 run to pull away.

Madonna was led by 20 points and eight rebounds from Lucky Pulice. Brennan Secrist had 19 points, while, Santino Arlia contributed eight points and five assists.

In the jayvee game, Madonna claimed a 51-27 victory, led by Michael Burdine with 14 points.

The Blue Dons are on the road today at Connotton Valley.

Beaver Local 67,

Indian Creek 36

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek suffered a 67-36 defeat at home Friday night in Buckeye 8 Conference action against Beaver Local.

The Redskins (0-5) were led by Jacob Wright with 10 points. Mike Kuczykowski had six points, while Logan Kuczykowski and Jordan Irizarry each contributed five points.

The Beavers were led by Skylar Pappas and Nathan Barber, each with 13 points.

St. Clairsville 62,

Harrison Central 56

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Harrison Central boys basketball team fell on the road at St. Clairsville Friday night, 62-56.

The Huskies trailed by just one point entering the fourth quarter, but the Red Devils were able to pull away to win in the final eight minutes.

Harrison Central was led by Kobe Mitchell with 26 points. John Vermillion and Cale McAfee each contributed nine points.
