Big Red wrestles, dominates meet in Maysville

MAYSVILLE – The Steubenville wrestling team remained perfect in duals, and two of its wrestlers remained perfect on the season, as Big Red dominated a five-team meet Saturday at Maysville.

Steubenville flexed its muscles in lopsided victories, scoring 277 points, while its opponents combined for just 31. Big Red defeated West Muskingum (78-6), Firestone (54-9), Chillicothe (75-6) and the host team (70-10) to up its dual mark to 11-0.

Senior Aaron Ferguson (160) and junior Brandon Kinney (182) kept their 2020-21 records spotless, winning four matches each. Ferguson maintained his status as the fourth-ranked wrestler at 160 pounds in Ohio Division II. Kinney is 11th in Division II.

Big Red’s other state-ranked seniors, Tyler Muldrew (152) and Ethan Pappas (170), also recorded four wins each on the day. Muldrew is ninth, while Pappas moved up to third.

Ethan Stimpert (106), Anthony Hill (126) Savier Faulks (138) Cole Antill (145), Nate King (195) and Spencer Ostovich (220) were also unbeaten on the day for Big Red.

Steubenville returns to its home mat Wednesday against Minerva.
