Michelle Anderson hits for the cycle, lifts Toronto to win
MARTINS FERRY — Michelle Anderson had a Saturday to remember, hitting for the cycle and lifting the Toronto softball team over Martins Ferry, 7-2.
Anderson also tallied three RBIs and two stolen bases. Ashton Thomas also hit a home run. Andrea Reeves and Riley Kinsey each doubled and scored three runs.
Kinsey was the winning in the circle, striking out seven and allowing five hits in the complete-game effort.
Wildcats earn two victories
The Edison softball team defeated John Glenn, 15-5, and East Palestine, 11-1, during a tri on Saturday.
In the second contest, Rebecka Evans tossed a no-hitter, while walking six and striking out one.
Between both contests, Hannah Christoff had two singles, a double and a home run. Maddie Brenstuhl collected two singles and a double. Mychi Stewart singled three times.
Bellaire 2, Edison 1
BELLAIRE — The Bellaire baseball team edged Edison, 2-1, on Saturday.
Blake Connelly took the loss despite going the distance. He allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits, no walks and struck out three.
At the plate, Ian McBane, Matt Parsons and Jayden Sanders all singled. Gage Cline had the lone RBI.
