Big Red rolls past EL
STEUBENVILLE — Make it 11 in a row for the Big Red boys basktball team.
Big Red pushed its win streak to that mark in convincing fashion again on Friday night inide the Crimson Center, topping visiting East Liverpool 80-43.
Steubenville, now 11-1, scored 20 or more points in each of the first three quarters to open the big lead and once again had a balanced attack with four players in double digits.
Tre’von Wiggins made five shots from beyond the arc and netted a game-high 24 points and five rebounds, while Aiden Davis hit four 3s and netted 16 points, Santino Haney tallied 12 points and eight boards and Cole Bowers finished with 11 tallies for the Crimson and Black. Will Taylor haf seven points and six boards.
Big Red is slated to take on Malvern on Sunday at Claymont High School.
Huskies fend off Weir High
CADIZ — The Harrison Central boys basketball team was able to do enough to top visiting Weir High at home in Cadiz on Friday night, 53-44.
Both teams are now 3-7 and the victory is the second-straight for the Huskies.
Harrison Central was led by 22 points from Brycen Kamarec, while Brady Elliot tallied 13 for the Huskies as the duo combined for six of the team’s seven 3s in the game.
The Red Riders were led by 19 points from Damir Mowder, while Anthony Jeffers tallied eight.
Harrison Central was scheduled to take on Catholic Central on Saturday, while Weir is slated to host Wheeling Central on Monday.
Edison falls to East Canton
RICHMOND — The Edison boys basketball team dropped a close 51-48 decision to East Canton on Friday night at home.
After trailing by nine at halftime, the Wildcats (3-8) rallied to within two going to the fourth quarter but the visitors were able to hold on.
Bryce Rogers and Jackson McBane each netted 14 points to lead the way for the Wildcats, while Jackson Wiley netted nine.
Edison is scheduled to be back at home Tuesday to host Harrison Central.
