FAIRMONT — Brooke’s late season push came to an end on Thursday night.

After winning three-straight and five of six games and pulling a first round upset to get within one game of going to Charleston, the Bruins’ season came to a close with a 79-46 defeat on the road at Fairmont Senior in the Class AAA, Region 1 tournament co-finals.

The Polar Bears, the region’s top seed, advance to the Class AAA state tournament with the win.

They are now 17-5 on the season.

Brooke, which was the fifth seed and had upset No. 4 East Fairmont a round earlier, closes its season at 9-15. The Bruins had a strong second half after starting 3-11.

Leading Brooke’s efforts on Thursday night were two in double figures as Andrew Murdock tallied 13 points and Noah McMahon added 10 points.

Jameil McKennen finished with nine points and Grant Yost tallied eight points and eight rebounds.
