Central’s Sprochi named first team All-Ohio

Five from Toronto, two from Central recognized

COLUMBUS — The Division VI and VII football All-Ohio teams were announced Monday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association.

Information used for the All-Ohio teams comes from the regular-season accomplishments and does not include playoff games. The seven districts of the OPSMA determine the all-district teams and nominate their best for the All-Ohio teams.

Among those recognized were seven local players.

Catholic Central’s Matthew Sprochi was named first-team All-Ohio as a defensive back in Division VII.

Also from the Crusaders, offensive lineman Johnny Kostecki was voted to the second team.

In Division VI, Toronto’s Heath Thomas was named to the second team on the defensive line, while Brady Fair was a third team pick at wide receiver.

Also from the Red Knights, Michael Henry (QB), Chase Heckathorn (OL) and Colt Joynson (DB) were honorable mentions.

On Tuesday, the Division IV and V All-Ohio teams will be announced, followed by the Division II and III teams on Wednesday. The Division I All-Ohio team will be announced Thursday.

Mr. Football was announced last week.
