MINGO JUNCTION — Jefferson County Elite A improved its summer baseball record to an impressive 23-8-1 by splitting a pair of games Sunday on the Indian Creek High School diamond.
In the opener, the Elite scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth inning to institute the 10-run mercy rule in 12-1 win over Barnesville. The winners pounded out 16 hits, with 14 of them being singles.
Conrad Gump led the way with two singles, a double and a three RBIs. Alec McBane singled, doubled and plated a pair of teammates, while Luke Zorne, George Ash, Anthony Sinicropi and Quinn McCoy all had two singles. McCoy knocked in two runs while Zorne, Ash and Sinicropi had one each. Andrew Kinney also drove in a run, as did Aaron Ferguson and Sinicropi.
