Brooke 3, Weir High 1

WEIRTON — Brooke bounced back from a first-set loss to defeat Weir High, 27-29, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24, on Tuesday.

Preslie Ridgely led the Bruins (7-4) with 34 kills, nine digs and three aces. Ava Bolen had 14 kills and five blocks. Ella Haught contributed 30 assists, while Olivia Beecroft added 20 assists and four aces.

For the Red Riders, Chesney Tice had four aces, 28 assists, one kill and a pair of digs. Leah Maley produced an ace, one assist, seven kills and four blocks. Mallory Rosnick had two aces, one assist and three kills.

Brooke hosts John Marshall on Thursday.

Big Red 3, St. Clairsville 1

STEUBENVILLE — Big Red lost the first set again on Tuesday, but bounced back to defeat St. Clairsville, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

Emily Allen led Big Red with 13 points, three aces 28 assists and two digs. Maggi Cucarese had 10 points, five aces and six digs. Anna Taylor contributed seven points, one ace, 16 kills and 11 digs. Tori Mitchell added two kills and eight blocks.

Steubenville challenges unbeaten Beaver Local today.

Madonna tri match

WEIRTON — Madonna split a pair during a home tri match with Magnolia and Hundred on Tuesday.

Madonna first defeated Hundred, 25-9, 25-14. Then Magnolia defeated Hundred, 25-4, 25-0. In the final game, Magnolia swept the Blue Dons, 25-10, 25-12.

Madonna is 3-4 this season.

Oak Glen 3, Indian Creek 2

NEW MANCHESTER — Oak Glen got some revenge Tuesday night by defeating Indian Creek 3-2. The Redskins got the best of the Golden Bears in five sets a few weeks back.

Alayna Kranis led Oak Glen with 23 kills, six digs and five aces. Ashly Six produced 10 kills. Gracie Wright finished with 39 assists and five aces. Rory McNutt added five kills and three blocks.

Catholic Central 3, Martins Ferry 2

STEUBENVILLE — Catholic Central lost an early two-set advantage but rallied to defeat Martins Ferry, 25-19, 26-24, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12, on Tuesday.

Clara Symington paced the Crusaders (4-7) with 16 kills, two assists, two aces, a block, 12 digs and 18 points. Jayda Jones compiled eight kills, 10 digs and five points. Adriana LeFever had two kills, 20 assists, two aces, seven digs and eight points. Mari Mello also produced eight points, along with one kills, a dozen assists, four aces, one block and two digs.

CCHS travels to Indian Creek on Saturday.


Bilby earns medalist honors

WEIRTON — Ryan Bilby had another medalist performance during Brooke’s tri match with Weir High and John Marshall on Tuesday at Williams Country Club.

Bilby finished with a 35. Alex Jezierski had a 46 and Alexis Spensky 52. Brooke did not score overall.

Weir High shot a 208 overall, led by Jude Smith’s 44. Joe Bostaph carded a 52, Jake Bostaph 54 and Zion Spencer 58.

John Marshall won with a 190. Matthew Douglas led the charge with a 44.

Toronto 192, Oak Glen 216

TORONTO — All four Toronto golfers carded less than a 50 score during the Red Knights’ 192-216 win over Oak Glen on Tuesday at Dyer Country Club.

Hunter Keenan was the medalist with a 46. Also for Toronto, Ty Suffoletta had a 48 and Brennan Suffoletta and Ethan Masters a 49 each.

For the Golden Bears, Sean Adkins led with a 52. Brady Chaney carded a 53, Garret Wright 54 and Logan Weekley 57.

RAYLAND — Buckeye Local defeated Indian Creek but fell to East Liverpool in a tri match Tuesday at Bec-Wood Golf Course.

The Potters shot 173 overall to win. Nathan Kelly was the medalist with a 41.

The Panthers shot a 180 overall, led by Aiden Polanski’s and Gavyn Romanyak’s 43. Jacob Berry and Josh Kerkuta carded a 47 each.

For the Redskins (187 overall score), Noah Tweedy had a 45, Luke Merriman 46 and Justice Morris and Conner Garbade 48 each.
