Soccer, volleyball sectional tournament brackets set

The Ohio sectional tournament brackets for volleyball, girls and boys soccer have been set.

VOLLEYBALL

The Big Red volleyball team is seeded 13th in Division II East 1 and will host No. 14 seed Duncan Falls Philo at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The winner advances to challenge top-seeded Beaver Local on Wednesday.

In East 2, Indian Creek is seeded fifth and is slated to host No. 6 seed East Liverpool on Thursday. The match could be in question because the Redskins’ OVAC tournament game Tuesday at Union Local was canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Harrison Central and Buckeye Local open on Saturday in the Division III East District. The Huskies, seeded 11th, will host No. 15 seed Muskingum, while the 18th-seeded Panthers travel to No. 14 seed Martins Ferry. Both contests will start at 11 a.m. Also in this district, 13th seeded Edison heads to No. 9 seed Barnesville on Tuesday.

In the Division IV East District, 13th-seeded Catholic Central travels to 12th-seeded Toronto on Wednesday.

All weekday games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

BOYS SOCCER

The Edison boys soccer team, seeded ninth the Division III East District, opens the tournament with an 11 a.m. contest Saturday at No. 8 Caldwell. Catholic Central is seeded third and hosts No. 5 seed Coshocton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Two area teams will square off in Division II East 1. No. 10 seed Indian Creek hosts 18th-seeded Harrison Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

In Division II East 2, No. 7 seed Steubenville gets a long rest and will host 12th-seeded New Concord John Glenn at 4 p.m. on Oct. 24.

GIRLS SOCCER

In the Division II East 2 District, 17th-seeded Harrison Central travels to No. 13 seed Morgan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, seventh-seeded Big Red hosts No. 9 seed Carrollton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Indian Creek is the sixth seed in Division II East 1 and will host 10th-seeded East Liverpool at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

In Division III East, Catholic Central is the third seed and will host No. 6 seed West Lafayette Ridgewood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Edison is the eighth seed and travels to No. 2 seed Bishop Rosecrans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

WEST VIRGINIA SOCCER

The soccer tournament is set for the boys and girls in Region 1, Section 1.

For the boys, Oak Glen is the second seed, while Weir High is third. The Red Riders open against No. 6 seed Tyler Consolidated at 6 p.m. on Monday. Oak Glen has a bye and will face the higher seed on Thursday, 30 minutes after the girls’ game. No. 5 seed Morgantown Trinity faces No. 4 seed Magnolia on Monday. Wheeling Central is the top seed

On the girls side, the Golden Bears are the top seed, Weir High second and Madonna third. The Blue Dons host sixth-seeded Magnolia at 6 p.m. Monday, while No. 5 seed Tyler Consolidated hosts No. 4 seed Wheeling Central.

The Red Riders will host the higher seed remaining at 6 p.m. on Thursday, while the Golden Bears get the lower seed at 5 p.m.

For both tournaments, the highest seed remaining hosts the lowest seed still alive on Saturday. Times are TBA.

As for the Brooke teams, their tournament will be announced later this week. The boys team has a chance to be the top seed if it can defeat Morgantown on Saturday.

WEST VIRGINIA

VOLLEYBALL

The Class AA volleyball tournament begins on Oct. 31 at Oak Glen. The regionals begin on Nov. 7, also at Oak Glen.
