STEUBENVILLE — Quinn McCoy’s baseball career will continue after his time in a Big Red uniform.

The senior first baseman for veteran coach Fred Heatherington’s club singed his letter of intent Monday to continue his career at Baldwin Wallace University.

“He is an excellent first baseman that gave our infielders confidence on any throw made,” Heatherington said. “Quinn really worked hard on defense, hitting and baserunning to become a complete player. He is a true leader on the field, in the classroom and in the community.”

In 2019, McCoy hit .404 with 38 hits, eight doubles and a triple. He had 19 runs scored and 22 RBIs. He would have been a three-year starter had it not been for the coronavirus pandemic canceling the 2020 season.

Off the diamond, McCoy, also a member of the basketball team, has a 3.67 GPA.

“Baldwin Wallace baseball is getting an outstanding student-athlete as as a high quality, character young man,” Heatherington said.

Baldwin Wallace, located in Berea, competes at the NCAA Division III level. The Yellow Jackets compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
