Big Red overcomes errors, defeats Meadowbrook

BYESVILLE — Despite seven errors, the Steubenville softball team held off Meadowbrook, 9-6, on Tuesday.

Jules King collected the complete-game victory, allowing no earned runs on six hits, one walk and struck out eight. She also recorded a triple at the plate.

Adrianna Brown delivered two singles and four RBIs. Lakyn Blackburn also singled twice and drove home one run. Amaria Swearengen was the third player with two singles. Mary Marshall and Tori Mitchell each added a single and an RBI.

Edison 16, St. Clairsville 8

RICHMOND — Hannah Christoff and Audrey Scott each homered, as the Edison softball team defeated St. Clairsville, 16-8, on Tuesday.

Scott also started in the circle in four innings. She allowed eight runs on seven hits, three walks and struck out a pair. Katie Fluharty picked up the victory in three innings of relief, striking out four and allowing no runs on one hit and one walk.

At the plate, Christoff and Scott each also singled twice and totaled nine RBIs. Maddie Brenstuhl delivered two singles and a double. The Meadows (Pressley and Alayna) combined for four hits and two RBIs.

Dover 10, Indian Creek 0

MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek softball team fell to Dover, 10-0, in five innings on Tuesday.

Carley Jo Penner started and took the loss in four innings, striking out six. Trinity Taylor tossed an inning in relief and struck out one.

Emily Buchanan tallied the Redskins’ lone hit, which was a single.


Toronto 15, Wellsville 0

WELLSVILLE — The Toronto baseball team blasted Wellsville, 15-0, in five innings on Tuesday.

Caleb Leasure started and earned the win in two innings, allowing no hits, no walks and struck out three. Aiden Mick pitched the next two frames, allowing no hits and one walk. The Tigers only had one hit overall.

At the dish, Dominic Bouscher tallied two singles, two stolen bases and three RBIs. Brycen Miller doubled and drove home one.

Union Local 4, Edison 3

RICHMOND — The Edison baseball squad fell to Union Local, 4-3, on Tuesday.

Jayden Sanders started but was the losing pitcher in six innings. He allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits, two walks and struck out seven. He also doubled at the plate.

Matt Parsons delivered a single, double and run batted in. Blake Connelly had a single and an RBI. Joey Booth singled twice.

East Liverpool 10, CCHS 7

STEUBENVILLE — The Catholic Central baseball team fell to East Liverpool, 10-7, on Tuesday.
