Edison Wildcats end losing ways, win 4-1

RICHMOND — The Edison baseball team snapped its losing streak with a 4-1 victory over Heartland Christian on Thursday.

Blake Connelly pitched a complete game for the win. He allowed one run on eighths, no walks and struck out three.

At the plate, Ian McBane had a double and one RBI. Cam Cooley singled and drove home a run. Joey Booth recorded an RBI, while Jayden Sanders and Isaac Zastudil singled.

Wheeling Central 15, Catholic Central 5

WHEELING — The short-handed Catholic Central baseball squad fell to Wheeling Central, 15-5, on Thursday.

Kody Carver started the first four innings for the Crusaders and took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, two walks and struck out two. David Kissinger, Alex Solema and Tate McKenna pitched in relief.

Offensively, Ryan Anderson recorded two singles, a double and a run batted in. Carver singled and drove home a pair. Kissinger had a single and one RBI.

CCHS tentatively hosts Brooke today following Big Red’s contest with Indian Valley at 5 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Shadyside 4, Toronto 1

The Toronto softball team fell to Shadyside, 4-1, on Thursday.

Riley Kinsey went the distance but took the loss. She allowed eight hits and struck out six.

At the dish, Michelle Anderson collected two base knocks. Kinsey, Bri Burruss and Jenna Anderson also singled.
