North Marion cruises to 60-6 victory over Oak Glen Friday night

NEW CUMBERLAND — After losing three of its past four games, Oak Glen football was dealt a major blow in a 60-6 home loss to North Marion on Friday night.

The Huskies had their way with the Golden Bears’ defense and never looked back as quarterback Brody Hall tossed four touchdowns.

“We never got our footing. We have to learn how to respond to adversity,” Oak Glen head coach Ted Arneault said. “We never recovered. They executed and we didn’t.”

North Marion (5-1) also played stellar defense as it tallied four interceptions and limited the Bears (2-4) to just 40 total yards.

Even though it was Oak Glen’s senior night, you would have thought it was North Marion’s as its senior running back Tobin Cruz caught two touchdowns and also ran for another.

“They’ve got talented athletes, but they aligned very well. They were physical and they have great technique,” Arneault noted. “They were the superior team. We have to figure out a way to match that and improve.”

There was one bright spot for the Bears as Anthony Burt scored their only touchdown as time expired. The sophomore bolted to the endzone from five yards out.

Despite another rough defeat, Arneault did take time to recognize his Oak Glen seniors.

“They’re a group of kids that followed when they needed to follow. They lead when they need to lead. I know that their legacy will be positive,” the Bears coach said. “What I’ve asked of them is to lead us these next two weeks the way they know how. They know success and I want them to imprint that on the younger kids.”

Next Friday, Oak Glen will visit John Marshall.
