Toronto opens volleyball tournament with win over Bishop Rosecrans

TORONTO — The Red Knights volleyball team held serve at home in the opening round of the tournament Wednesday evening, taking a four-set win over Bishop Rosecrans in the Divison IV, East District sectionals.

Toronto, the No. 11 seed, won the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-23, then rebounded to win the fourth, 25-18, after Rosecrans took the third, 25-22.

Hannah Dobbs led the Knights with 20 kills, six aces, 13 digs and two blocks. Andrea Reeves had 35 assists, eight kills, 10 digs and four blocks, Callie Anderson nine kills, 21 digs and four aces, Taylie Thomas 47 digs and two aces, Ashton Thomas eight blocks and four kills, Jenna Anderson five kills and four blocks, Brianna Burruss five digs and Michelle Anderson eight digs and two aces.

Toronto will travel to No. 1 seed Shenandoah on Saturday.

Dover 3, Big Red 0

DOVER — The Big Red volleyball team’s season came to an end Wednesday with a three set loss to Dover in a Division II, East 1 District sectional match.

Dover, the No. 6 seed, topped Big Red, the No. 12 seed, 25-9, 25-7, 25-7.

The Tornadoes advance to face No. 4 seed Riverview on Tuesday.
